Welcome, Summer 2019!
Here comes the sun, and with it our favorite clothing season: swim season. Though we are busy planning on spending as much of May through September relaxing by the pool, let’s just take a careful look at our current bathing suit inventory. If you are planning to wear the same two-piece or one-piece you’ve had since that family beach trip 10 years ago, you might want to consider an upgrade. But we aren’t just here to tell you to shop, we’re here to tell you what to shop. Crank up the heat with the latest and the most fashionable trends in swimwear which has been uncovered and will have the longest shelf life (that’s more than one season long!). Less is more especially underneath the blazing sun! We want all of the beach lovers to feel sexy and comfortable in their bodies no matter what they wear. So let’s take a look at the latest swimsuit trends of 2019 where you’ll find a little something for everyone that’ll have you standing out from the crowd.
Spring’s Breakout Colour: Orange and Yellow
These colors are seen everywhere. Orange hues are making waves this spring, a fact proven by the overflow of orange looks spotted during NYFW, and we are convinced that the color will look just as good in the swimwear department. Yellow is also a major color trend for spring. It looks great with or without a tan.
Long live stripes! Seriously. The trend that only grows with each passing year is now in swimsuit form. Let stripes rule alone or pick up a blend of stripes and floral to ace the trend this summers.
A little extra detailing can go a long way when investing in swimwear. This year we’re eyeing the sweet balance of minimal ruffle detailing. Deep ruffle v-neck or an overlapping flair, you can be sure of this style not going wrong either way.
All Tied Up
While we are used to swimsuits tying in the back, this new trend’s got it all twisted around. Of late tiny bows and tie details are showing up all over the swimsuit section. Multiple ribbons and long ties on the sleeves of your suit, or even crisscrossed over the front are the new norms.
Nothing says spring like a floral print. And while we love a good floral dress as much as anyone, we’re putting our frocks aside and opting to bring some flower power to the swimsuit collection instead.
Another street style trend rolling into the swimwear space. Animal prints, from zebra to leopard print, were the talk of the town during NYFW. Tap into your wild side with these tastefully done (i.e. not cheesy) iterations of the prints. These patterns are classics as can be, but leopard print and snakeskin are splashed onto fancy fabrics and churned out in spicy colors for 2019. It’s clear that animal print is a seasonless trend, across categories. If you’re ready to dive in, go for a leopard one-piece and prepare yourself for compliments.
The high-cut trend has been around for a couple of seasons now, and it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. High-cut styles are designed to elongate, lengthen and look amazing on almost all body shapes. Pairing high-cut swimsuits with a wide waistband also add a flattering finish on the waist. It elongates the legs and hearkens back to the late ’80s and early ’90s should be paired properly with hoops or a body chain.
We have seen a prominent push toward belted styles in upcoming 2019 collections. While reminiscent of the golden years of the ’60s and ’70s, a belted bottom or one-piece can create shape through the midline and also act as a focal point to elevate and enhance an otherwise simple piece.
